Supplemental Security Income payments are for those Americans with a low income and little or no money on hand. Commonly known as SSI, they usually arrive on the first day of the month for more than 7 million recipients in the USA.
SSI recipients can receive $943 if they qualify for the largest payment amount in 2024. Of course, if you have other earnings like retirement or SSDI benefits, you may get an average check of about $698 (for all recipients) or $574 (for those aged 65 or older).
SSI will be due on July 1
If you are on Supplemental Security Income, you can receive your next monthly payment on July 1st. Unlike retirement or SSDI, these recipients only have one payday for all beneficiaries.
Bear in mind that you must remain eligible to get Supplemental Security Income. For example, if you overcome your disability, you get extra additional earnings or you get married, you must report it.
Sometimes your marital status can even increase your monthly payment. So, inform Social Security so that they can send the right amount per month.
2 SSI payments in August
Getting 2 SSI payments per month can happen from time to time. However, this does not mean that you can receive an extra or bonus payment. In total, you will still receive 12 checks or direct deposits per year.
The first SSI check will be on August 1, 2024. Of course, this money is for the month of August. But the check for September cannot be sent on September 1 since it is on the weekend. Social Security can never send money on Sundays because offices are not open on the weekend.
The same thing happens on holidays. So, Social Security will send the check for September on August 30, 2024. By doing so, SSA avoid delays and helps those who are in financial difficulties get money 24 hours in advance.
