SSDI is a Social Security benefit for people with a disability. What is more, you can also receive money from the United States Department of Agriculture. In this way, you can collect cash for healthy food from the SNAP benefits.
The average payment you can receive from SSDI is $1,489 in 2023. Even if it is not much, it is much higher than Supplemental Security Income. SNAP, the former Food Stamps payment can pay up to $973 if you are a family of four.
People in California receive SSDI on the same day as in other states, but SNAP benefits have a different payment schedule. That is why it is important to check when you can receive your money. In this way, you can plan your monthly budget and expenses properly. Not doing so can prevent you from saving.
SSDI payment dates in California
December 1 will be the day when some eligible beneficiaries can get disability benefits payments. In fact, you can get your Social Security payment on the first day of the month if you received benefits before May 1997. But there is another chance you can get it too.
If you collect Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance, you can also receive your payment on December 1. Bear in mind that this is unusual because you should receive your payment on the 3rd, but it is on Sunday.
Thus, the Administration sends SSDI checks on the previous business day. If you did not receive disability benefits before May 1997, you can get it on three possible dates.
December 13 can be another payday if your birthday is from the 1st to the 10th. If your birth date is from the 11th to the 20th, expect your SSDI payment on December 20th. The last check is for those whose birthday is after the previously mentioned dates and it will be ready on December 27, 2023.
When can I receive SNAP (Food Stamps) benefits in California?
While you can get your SSDI check on December 1, 13, 20, and 27 in California, there are 10 different paydays for SNAP benefits. However, payments will arrive early in the month, from December 1-10.
Therefore, Food Stamps will be sent in just 10 days. California sends SNAP benefits using the last digit of the beneficiary’s case number. For example, if your case number ends in 1, you will receive your Food Stamps on December 1.
Those beneficiaries whose case number ends in 2, will get their SNAP payment on December 2. As you can see, you can easily figure out the day when you can collect your Food Stamps. Therefore, if you get SSDI and SNAP on December 1, you will get all the payments at the same time.
If you are on a low income and still do not receive SNAP or SSI, you should apply for them. It is more than likely that you are eligible and you have not claimed these payments yet. The more money you can earn per month, the easier it will be to make ends meet.
