Disability Insurance payments are not over in October. October 16 is a payday for those SSDI recipients who started collecting benefits after April 30, 1997, and whose birthday is from 11-20.
Therefore, you can check your bank account to see if the Social Security Administration (SSA) has already sent your SSDI payment. Anyway, this will not be the last disability payment in October.
SSDI payment for October 23 without the 2025 COLA
None of the SSDI payments in 2024 will include the 2025 COLA increase. So, disability insurance recipients will have to wait for this boost till January comes. To get money on October 23:
- Disability Insurance beneficiaries must have been on benefits after April 30, 1997
- their birth date must be from 21-31
- they must remain eligible and continue having a qualifying disability
For your information, if you are also receiving SSI apart from SSDI, your next payment will be on November 1. Thus, you will receive SSI and Disability Insurance on the same payday next month. Social Security needs to send in advance the payment on the third because it falls on the weekend.
SSDI amounts without the 2025 COLA
Both SSDI checks and direct deposits in October will share the same maximum amount. Disability Insurance recipients can get maximum payments of up to $3,822 in 2024.
On average, the SSDI payment is about $1,539, as of August 2024. This amount may be closer to most recipients’ amounts because few can receive the largest Social Security Disability Insurance payment.
After the 2025 COLA increase, which will come into effect on January 3, the average payment will be about $1,577. If you just receive 1,000 dollars in 2024, your Disability Insurance payment will be about $1,025 in 2025.
Those who just receive a payment of $500 per month in 2024, will get about $512 in 2025. In this case, you may also qualify for Supplemental Security Income, so it is advisable to ask in your local SSA office if you are eligible.
