The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) always has a certification period. This certification period for Food Stamps may not be so long for all recipients. In fact, there are special conditions for certain groups, which may see their certification period reduced if they do not meet a requirement. Have you heard about Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents’ time limit and work requirement?
If you are aged 18-54, you must work for at least 20 hours per week in order to continue receiving SNAP benefits for more than 3 months in a 3-year period. Hence, it is of vital importance to work for a minimum of 80 hours per month.
Who will be affected by the SNAP ABAWD time limit in 2025?
Although this rule will affect those aged 18-54, it will be an issue for those aged 53 and 54. This is because they were not affected by this rule until October 1, 2024.
Therefore, if they have not worked in October, November, and December, and receive SNAP payments, they will lose their Food Stamps in 2025. Make sure you get a job if you have not done so by now.
Remember that working is not the only way to get rid of the ABAWD time limit. Of course, there are exemptions to avoid the work requirements. Check all the details below.
