In just a few days Social Security Disability beneficiaries in the United States will be able to get a new check with extra money without having to do anything to get it. Just having the Social Security benefit previously accepted is more than enough to enjoy this new monthly payment. And the best part is that not only Disability beneficiaries can enjoy this check.
There are several mandatory requirements to be able to get this payment, but having a disability is not one of those requirements. So it is not mandatory to be within this group of retirement beneficiaries to be able to collect or not to collect this check. Belonging to this group or not does have an impact on the direction of the maximum check we can get, but not on the day we get it.
Each and every American who is part of retiree group 2 will get this check from Social Security. And this group of retirees is made up of Americans who have had the check since after a particular year and who have a birthday on exact days. But the type of benefit does not matter, so disability and occupational retirement beneficiaries get the payment equally.
Which Americans with disabilities receive a pension next week?
Beneficiaries who belong to retiree group 2 are the lucky ones who will be able to get a Social Security check next week. This group has two key characteristics. Without those characteristics they cannot get this payment, so they will have to wait for a different day to get it.
The characteristics to be part of this group are:
- Have a benefit since after 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.
This is the only way they will be able to get the payments on the next January 10th. This payment will be the second payment that the Social Security Administration will send to disability retirees in this first month of the year 2024. Prior to that payment, pre-1997 retirees got their payments on the 3rd of this month.
Why does the Social Security payment have extra free money?
Every Social Security group collecting a benefit will have a higher check in 2024 than in the previous year. Retirement payments for both disability, age, spouse, widow or widower, among others, will increase 3.2% more than they were in 2023. So your payment will also increase, as will that of other beneficiaries.
For every $1,000 you will get $32 more. This may not seem like much each month, but if we look at the end of the year we will see that we have gotten a good amount of extra money. Best of all, we don’t have to do anything to get the raise. Simply having the check accepted is enough to start enjoying this extra payment in January 2024.
As for the increase, it is also good to keep in mind that Supplemental Security Income payments increase as well. Therefore, the check for this extra benefit will reach $943 in 2024, although not all Americans can get that figure. Each Supplemental Security Income check, like disability benefits, is totally different, so each American gets a different, personal amount.
