Aldi has issued a warning to its customers who might have been affected by a recent security breach. If you made a purchase using a debit or credit card at certain Aldi stores, your information could be at risk.
The supermarket chain revealed that the debit and credit card information of its customers in New Jersey may have been compromised. This announcement comes after an unauthorized party gained physical access to checkout terminals at five stores, including two in New Jersey and three in California.
Aldi operates 60 stores across New Jersey
With 11 situated in Monmouth and Ocean counties. The two compromised stores in New Jersey are located at:
- Commerce Avenue, Union
- St. Georges Avenue, Roselle
According to Aldi, the breach occurred between December 28, 2023, and January 2, 2024, at the Roselle store, and on January 4, 2024, at the Union store. During this period, a card-skimming device was installed at these locations, potentially capturing customers’ card information, including their PIN numbers.
Aldi took immediate action by removing the skimming devices from the affected terminals. They have also reported the incident to law enforcement and the relevant payment card brands to prevent further misuse of customer information.
If you shopped at these locations during the specified dates, it is advisable to monitor your bank statements closely and report any suspicious activity to your bank. Aldi is committed to ensuring the security of its customers and is working diligently to prevent future incidents.
