Retirement benefits are on the way for millions of retirees on Social Security in the United States

Do you fancy receiving a Social Security check worth about $1,910? If you have worked in jobs covered by the Administration for about 35 years, and you paid enough taxes, you could probably get one in 2024.

Of course, you must be at least 62 before you can file for Social Security. In fact, $1,910 is the average payment for those on retirement benefits in the United States.

WHEN WILL SOCIAL SECURITY DELIVER NEW PAYMENTS?

April 10 will be when the Administration will deliver a new payment next week.  The next checks or direct deposits will be for those on retirement benefits after April 30, 1997.

To get the one on April 10, retirees’s birthday must fall on 1-10 of any month. If your birth date is not from 1-10, you could get it on either April 17 or April 24, 2024.

American retirees whose birthday is from 11-20 will collect their check on April 17. Therefore, if your birthday is none of the previously mentioned and you are on Social Security, your payment will be in your bank account on April 24.

WHY WILL SOME RETIREES GET MORE THAN $1,910 FROM SOCIAL SECURITY IN APRIL?

The reasons why a retiree could receive a higher payment has to do with 3 different reasons. The number of years they worked for is 35 or more. They did not file early and they were high earners as a worker.

Do not forget that to get $4,873 in 2024 you must have earned the taxable maximum for 35 years, filed at 70, and had jobs covered by SSA. Social Security can pay up to $3,822 if you file at Full Retirement Age.

Early filing at 62 means receiving from Social Security up to $2,710. Some workers who worked for just 10 years may receive lower payments. If so, they may want to apply for SSI and SNAP benefits.
