Now that retirees know how much their retirement benefits will increase and SSDI recipients too, it is time to prepare for the next Social Security check. As a matter of fact, it will be sent in just a few days.
October 16 will be when retirees and disability insurance recipients whose birthdays are from 11-20 will get money from Social Security. To get money on this day you cannot be on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and you must have started getting benefits after April 30, 1997.
Social Security payments after October 16
Similarly, the Administration will also send another payment to retirees and SSDI recipients on October 23. This payment also has a birth date requirement. So, if you were not born on specific days, you will not qualify. Eligibility:
- Not receiving SSI benefits at the same time
- did not start getting benefits before May 1997
- have not broken any SSA’s rules
- your birthday is from the 11th to the 20th
After the Social Security payment on October 23, there will be no other checks this month. Those who got a payment on October 3 will revive money from Social Security on November 1, 2024.
Social Security amounts for disability and retirement benefits
The amount of money you could receive will depend on your work history and filing age, among other factors. On average, retirees receive about $1,920 as of August 2024.
SSDI recipients get about $1,539 on average. Some workers may have been high earners for 35 years or more. Thus, they may qualify for the largest Social Security checks in 2024.
In fact, a retired worker can get up to $4,873 in retirement. SSDI recipients can only receive up to $3,822. If you are still working and you would like to get a large payment in retirement, make sure you:
- earn the taxable maximum
- file at 70
- work for a minimum of 35 years
- have jobs covered by SSA, so as to pay enough payroll taxes
