The Social Security Administration’s payment schedule unveiled that the May 1 check will not be the only one. SSI recipients will collect another payment on May 31. However, this is not for May.
In fact, the Supplemental Security Income payment due on May 31 is for the month of June. Since June 1 is Saturday, the Administration had to re-scheduled it for the previous business day. In this case, it falls on the last Friday in May 2024.
Although most SSI payments are due on the first day of the month, there are several exceptions throughout the year. That is why it is important to save this money for the next month. Bear in mind that Social Security never sends bonuses or extra payments.
SSI AMOUNTS FOR MAY 31 2024
The maximum amount a person on Supplemental Security Income can receive is $943. However, if you have other benefits or earnings, you may just get an average payment of about $699.
Married couples can receive up to $1,415 if they both qualify. As a matter of fact, there is a third group of recipients. Essential persons can get up to $472 after the 2024 COLA increase said Social Security.
The maximum amounts will remain the same until December 2024. Even if Social Security can announce the 2025 COLA boost on October 12, it will not be until December 31 when SSI recipients get their boost. File for SSI if you cannot make ends meet and find it hard to pay all your monthly expenses.
