Retirement benefits are over in May. There is only a Supplemental Security Income payment on May 31. However, Social Security will send a payment as early as June 3, 2024.
The thing is three large groups of retirees will have to wait at least 15 days to receive their Social Security direct deposits or checks. Remember that the Administration does not send all the payments on the same paydays.
Who can receive $1,915 on June 3, 2024, from Social Security?
If you qualify for both SSI and retirement benefits, you could get an average payment worth $1,915 on June 3. So, you could receive SSI on May 31 and retirement on the third.
Since $1,915 is just an average payment, you could get less money or even more. If you worked for just ten years in jobs covered by SSA and had a low salary, you will receive a lot less.
High earners who worked for a minimum of 35 years, earned the taxable maximum all this time and filed at 70 could get up to $4,873. Do not forget that early filing reduces your Social Security benefit amount by 30%.
Retirees who got Social Security before May 1997
If you collected retirement benefits before May 1997, you also qualify for the June 3 payment. Therefore, this payment on the third is not just for those on SSI and Social Security.
The amounts of money for these retirees may be higher than average because they do not qualify for SSI. Hence, they do not have a low income. What is more, their monthly payments have gotten lots of COLA increases over time.
If you filed at 62, you could get up to $2,710 on June 3. Those retirees who file for Social Security at Full Retirement Age could receive up to $3,822. Other paydays in June will be June 12, 18 and 26. For them, SSA will check your birth date. The order to get checks will be birthdays from 1-10, 11-20 and 21-31.
