The City of Rochester is sending monthly payments worth 500 dollars to eligible beneficiaries for 1 year. These beneficiaries applied for a basic income program to get “no strings attached” payments.
Receiving free money has been possible thanks to funds provided by the American Rescue Plan Act. In total, this basic income has received 2.2 million dollars. So, if you were chosen, you could receive $6,000 in just twelve months.
The thing is not many beneficiaries can receive these basic income payments. As a matter of fact, there can only be a total of 371 recipients. People were chosen randomly because many applicants met all the requirements.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE BASIC INCOME PROGRAM IN ROCHESTER
Not everyone qualifies for these checks worth a total of $6,000. Being a resident of Rochester is mandatory. So, if you were not a Rochester resident for at least one year before applying, you do not qualify.
Only 18-year-olds or older could apply. Therefore, if you are not 18, you cannot take part in this basic income program in the City of Rochester.
What is more, not all Rochester areas qualify for these checks. In fact, you must live in a specific area if you would like to apply.
Income requirements are a key condition for this basic income. Those who live below 185 percent of the Federal Poverty Level or at 185% of the FPL and meet the rest of the requirements may be eligible.
CAN I STILL APPLY FOR THE GURANTED INCOME PROGRAM IN ROCHESTER?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to apply for this basic income now. The application window opened last June and it is uncertain whether there will be another program or not.
So, only applicants who met all the eligibility criteria and were chosen randomly can receive this basic income in the City of Rochester. Visit https://rocgbi.com/ for more details.
However, if you live in Alaska, you can still apply for the Permanent Fund Dividend. This is another check for eligible residents of Alaska. The 2023 check was $1,312 and some recipients are still receiving it while others are submitting applications.
