Find out if you could get two Social Security checks in December 1st

The last month of the year 2023 will have several irregularities for United States Social Security beneficiaries. With this in mind we have to take a good look at the calendar to get the best financial organization in our household. Knowing on what day we can get our Social Security checks, we will be able to have a better control of the family economy.

In total, the Administration will send out 6 different checks in the month of December. As is obvious to all Americans on benefits, getting all six of these checks is impossible. But it is possible to get half of them. A Social Security and Supplemental Security Income recipient can cash up to 3 different checks out of these 6.

The day you get these payments will depend on several factors, but there are two that the Social Security Administration sends to all recipients equally. These two checks are the Supplemental Security Income, which are dated the same for all Americans. The other benefits are the disability or age retirement payments and those payments will be on different days depending on which group the retiree belongs to. Do you know how many checks you have to get in December?

WHO CAN GET TWO SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS ON DECEMBER 1ST?

In order to receive these two payments on the same day on the 1st of December, several requirements must be met. These requirements are the same for all Americans. Therefore, if we do not comply with these requirements, we will not be able to get the payment on the 1st of December. We may get two or even three payments in the month, but we will not be able to get both benefits on the same day.

In order to have these two checks on the 1st of December, we must have both the Social Security and Supplemental Security Income checks accepted. However, not all SSA beneficiaries will collect this payment. Only retirees with a post-1997 benefit can get this check.

Therefore, the mandatory requirements are to have Supplemental Security Income and to have applied for retirement before 1997. And it does not matter what type of retirement we have, since the year of retirement is what marks whether we collect on this day or not.

On the other hand, the method of collection is also key to being able to get the payments on the 1st of December. The Social Security Administration will pay these checks, but getting them on that day or not will depend on whether we have Direct Deposit activated or not. So by activating this collection method we will be able to get these payments on the same day.

OTHER SSA PAYMENTS IN DECEMBER 2023

In addition to these payments, the Social Security Administration will send other different payments within the month of December. In fact, some benefit recipients may get up to 3 different checks within days of each other during the month due to an irregularity.

If we have Supplemental Security Income accepted, we will not only get the payment on the 1st of the month. We will also be able to collect this benefit on the 29th day of December 2023. This payment is in advance of the January 2024 check, so it will have the 3.2% COLA added, so we will see a maximum check of $943.

Finally, retirement payments will not only be on the 1st. For post-1997 retirees the Social Security payment may arrive on the 13th, 20th and 27th of December, depending on the retiree’s birthday.
