There are stimulus checks that eligible Americans can still apply for. Believe it or not, some taxpayers have not claimed yet their second and third Economic Impact Payments.
They may not have claimed because they do not have an obligation to do so. Others may not have received the full amount. If this is your case, contact the IRS to see if you can claim your free money. But tax rebates or credits that could be like stimulus checks are not over in New Mexico and Washington.
While the stimulus checks in Washington have a deadline coming soon, the one in New Mexico will last longer. So, let’s have a look at the one in New Mexico first because it will be over soon.
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE FOR THE STIMULUS CHECKS IN THE FORM OF TAX CREDIT IN WASHINGTON?
The Working Families Tax Credit in Washington accepts applications through December 31, 2023. Therefore, there are about two weeks left to file for this free money. The amounts will depend on your family size.
For example, if you have three or more children, your stimulus check will be up to $1,200. A family with just two kids can receive 900 dollars. So, if the number of kids is smaller, it is reduced by 300 dollars.
Families in Washington with just one child can get stimulus checks worth up to $600. Even if you do not have a qualifying child you may receive it if you meet the rest of the requirements. However, your stimulus check will be smaller and you can receive up to $300.
Only workers aged 25-65 or citizens who have a qualifying child may be eligible. Having lived in Washington for at least 183 days is mandatory to get it. Besides, you will need an SSN or ITIN. Filing a 2022 tax return is necessary and being eligible for the EITC too.
DEADLINE TO FILE FOR THE TAX REBATE IN NEW MEXICO
Since the New Mexico tax rebate is tied to the 2021 tax return in this State, you must file before May 31, 2024. Those New Mexicans who have no tax liability may not have filed by the April 18, 2023 deadline, so they can still do so without a penalty.
Once you file, you do not need to take any further action to get these stimulus checks. If you received a direct deposit, you will also get this tax rebate in the same way.
If you do not qualify for a direct deposit, you may receive a paper check. As a bonus tip, keep an eye on the PFD stimulus checks in Alaska. The application window will soon be available. It will be from January 1 through March 31.
What is more, some Alaskans will receive their PFD stimulus checks on December 14. Others will receive it next January. Actually, the date the Alaska Department of Revenue has set for the payment is January 18.
