Banks are about to send a new payment on December 29, 2023. Many seniors and people with a disability did not expect to have such good news. Most thought that their next check would arrive in January.
However, the Social Security Administration (SSA), has scheduled the next payment three days before the usual due date. In this way, those who have run out of money before because of the Christmas expenses can get cash in hours.
The amount of this payment will depend on the financial situation of each recipient. For your information, the next check will be for those Americans on Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
WHO CAN RECEIVE AN SSI PAYMENT ON DECEMBER 29, 2023?
All eligible SSI beneficiaries will get their check on December 29. Therefore, if you filed for SSI and got the approval from the Administration, this check will be yours in less than 24 hours.
Unlike Social Security retirement or disability benefits, there is just a single payment for all SSI beneficiaries. Even if you received a check on December 1, there will be another one on December 29.
This is because the Social Security Administration has scheduled the January payment for 2023. Remember that SSI checks cannot be sent on a holiday like New Year.
That was the date most SSI beneficiaries expected the payment. SSI checks always arrive on the first day of the month. But if it is on the weekend or a holiday SSA schedules it for the previous business day.
HOW MUCH CAN SSI BENEFICIARIES RECEIVE ON DECEMBER 29?
Thanks to the Cost of Living Adjustment in 2024, these payments will be 3.2% higher. The largest check will be for married couples who qualify for the full amount, $1,415.
Not all married couples may receive $1,415 because they may have other earnings like retirement benefits or other resources. If you are single your payment will be lower.
The largest payment for a single person on SSI is up to $943. The last SSI check was just up to $914 before the 2024 COLA increase. Average SSI checks as of November 2023 were $673.86. With the COLA boost average payments may be about $694 for a single person.
If you have a low retirement or SSDI check, apply for Supplemental Security Income. This will be the best way to get more money per month. If you cannot make ends meet send your application for Food Stamps (SNAP benefits) too. Save as much as you can with all the benefits that are available in the USA.
