HOW MUCH CAN I GET FROM SSI?

The amount of your monthly payment will depend on your personal situation. However, it is possible to see average payments by age. Of course, you cannot have a large retirement check to get SSI.

But average benefits ($1,909) are higher than SSI average payments (697). If you are 65 years old or older, the average SSI payment is worth about $574.46. This is what Social Security stated on the last monthly statistical snapshot.

Anyway, if you qualify, you will receive more money regardless of the amount of your monthly SSI payment. If you need cash to buy food, you can also apply for Food Stamps (SNAP benefits).
