SSDI payments are usually delivered to the recipient’s bank accounts on 4 different paydays. Generally, they are first issued on the third day of December. Then, three rounds of Wednesday payments will be sent on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday in December.
However, the Social Security Administration will not issue an SSDI check on December 25. Remember that December 25 will be the fourth Wednesday in December and this weekday is when many disability recipients get their monthly payment.
When will Social Security issue the December 25 payment for SSDI?
Great news for SSDI recipients because they will get money from the Agency on December 24 instead of December 25. That means Disability Insurance payments will be issued 24 hours in advance.
This is a lifeline for American individuals and families on SSDI if they have a low income. Christmas is a beautiful time but it is also when Americans spend a great deal of money.
The requirements to receive Social Security Disability Insurance on December 24 will be:
- to be born from 21-31, regardless of the month
- not not be on SSI
- filed and got disability benefits after April 30, 1997
- remain eligible
Why will Social Security send SSDI on December 24?
The last SSDI payment in 2024 will be issued 24 hours ahead of schedule because December 25 is a Federal Holiday. Remember that it is when many Americans celebrate Christmas Day.
When a Social Security payment falls on a Federal Holiday, it is usually issued on the previous business day. It is the same thing when a payday falls on Saturday or Sunday, that is, the weekend.
Those SSDI recipients who do not receive their disability benefit payment on time must wait for 3 mailing days before they can contact Social Security. It is advisable to contact their financial institution first, and after waiting for 3 business days, call SSA if the payment has not yet been issued.
