The final countdown for the last Social Security check or direct deposit in July is about to start in one day. After this payday, there will soon be a new round of checks in August.
The last group of Americans to receive Social Security will be those whose birthday is from the 21st to the 31st. In fact, you will not be eligible if you meet the birth date requirement but get SSI or collected benefits before May 1997.
Last Social Security payment date
The Administration has confirmed that the next Social Security check will be arriving on July 24. Therefore, you can check your bank account on that date if you get a direct deposit.
Those who get a check may also check the mail on that date. However, they cannot report a missing payment until they have waited for three mailing days. Contact your bank first before you call the Administration.
Bear in mind that there is also a check due on July 17. This money will be for those whose birthday is from 11-20 and if they did not receive any of the former checks in July.
Social Security amounts for July 24
The average Social Security payment for retired workers is $1,916. Even if that is an average amount, some retirees may get less money if they did not pay enough taxes, work for just 10 years, or had a really low wage.
If you have filed at 62, you can only get up to $2,710. But the average check for 62-year-olds is much lower, about $1,298. At Full Retirement Age, the maximum benefit will be $3,822. So that is what you can get if you are 66 years and 8 months old.
The maximum retirement benefit amount seniors can get on July 24 will be $4,873. Still, it is very unlikely to get it because you must have earned the contribution and benefit base for 35 years in jobs covered by SSA. Apart from filing at 70!
