Social Security sent the last SSI payment on November 1. The recent announcement of the December payment schedule has brought happiness among Supplemental Security Income recipients.
In order to receive money from SSI payments you must have filed first. Then, Social Security will inform you if you are eligible or not. Bear in mind that it is only for people with a disability, seniors of at least 65 years old, and blind people.
Some children with a qualifying disability may get SSI checks too. Despite the fact that the December payment will be at the beginning of the month, it is not always like that.
When will Social Security pay the SSI checks in December?
The first payday for SSI beneficiaries will be on December 1, 2023. Therefore, there will be recipients who can collect payments of up to $914 if you are a single individual.
If you are two eligible people receiving SSI and are married, the amount will be $1,371 in 2023. However, average payments may not be that high since people may have other earnings that reduce these maximum amounts.
Apart from SSI beneficiaries who are single or married, there will be a payment for essential persons on December 1 too. Their maximum amounts are much lower.
As a matter of fact, essential persons on SSI benefits can get up to $458 in 2023. The 2024 COLA increase will not be ready for the December 1 payment, so you will have to wait a little longer.
When will SSI beneficiaries receive the 2024 COLA increase?
Millions of Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries are looking forward to the 2024 COLA boost. They will only have to wait until December 29 to cash their January payment. This advance payment will reach their bank account by direct deposit three days before they are due.

Social Security never sends payments on the weekends or on holidays. January 1 is New Year and that is the reason why the 2024 COLA jump will arrive on December 29 and in 2023.
All Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries will receive two payments in December, the first on the 1st and the second on the 29th. Do not forget that it is not a bonus or extra payment.
The new maximum amount will be 943 dollars for a single person. Married couples who are eligible can collect payments of up to $1,415. $472 will be the maximum payment for essential persons.
Therefore, recipients will take advantage of the 3.2% increase thanks to the new COLA. Actually, they will be the first ones to cash their new payments, and retirees and SSDI recipients will need to wait until January 3, 10, 17, and 24. See the post below to make an appointment to get SSI.
