Although the 48 contiguous States, Alaska, the District of Columbia, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will get an increase in their SNAP benefits, there is one exception. In fact, Food Stamp recipients in Hawaii will have a decrease rather than an increase.

Hawaii will see their maximum SNAP amounts reduced. USDA has confirmed the new amounts for all the States and United States territories. Needless to say, it has bad news for Hawaiians.

What are the new SNAP amounts in Hawaii after 2025 COLA?

A family of four will receive up to $1,723 from October 1, 2024, in Hawaii. Bear in mind that the former amount was, or still is,  36 dollars higher. That is, a family of four can still get up to $1,759 in Hawaii.

Couples or 2-member families can receive up to $967 until September 30, 2024. After that date, 2 SNAP beneficiaries will receive up to $948. That is almost 20 dollars lower, $19 in fact. In one year that would be a total of $228 less.

If you are a single recipient, you will receive up to $517, down from $527. That implies a SNAP recipient will get up to 10 dollars less per month. In one year, this reduction will prevent them from getting $120.
