S.S.I. is the Supplemental Security Income benefit. It helps families and individuals with financial problems. What is more, they must have a disability, be blind, or be at least 65 years old.
Unexpectedly for many new SSI recipients, their next payment will not be due on the first day in June. Keep in mind that the Social Security Administration never sends money on the weekend or holidays.
SSI has a new payment date and it is not June
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has confirmed that the next SSI payment for June will be sent on May 31. Therefore, eligible disability beneficiaries, seniors, or blind people will get it 24 hours in advance.
Collecting a monthly payment in advance will help those Americans who are broke. In this way, they will be able to pay off debt, a loan or buy groceries. Remember that there are no bonuses or extra payments for SSI.
So, you should save the money you get on May 31 for June. Having a look at SSA’s payment schedule, you can get the impression that there is no S.S.I. in June, but if you check May, it is due on the 31. There will be no surprises in July, but August will also have a change. August 30 will be the payday for September.
Not just SSI, SSDI will bring another change in June
If you are receiving Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance, your Social Security payday will be on June 3. However, if you qualify for SSDI on June 19, get ready.
June 19 is a Federal holiday, Juneteenth National Independence Day will mean Social Security offices will be closed. Therefore, the Administration will have to send SSDI on the previous business day.
Hence, June 18 will be the new payment date for SSDI whose birthday is from 11-20, and got benefits after April 30, 1997.
