Get ready if you are on disability benefits. Some SSDI recipients will be surprised to know the new payment dates for SSI in May if they also qualify for them. In fact, there will be two SSI payments in May.
SSI will be due on May 1 and May 31, 2024. Therefore, if you get SSDI and SSI, you could receive three disability benefits in May. This will only be possible if you remain eligible.
SSDI – DISABILITY BENEFITS ON MAY 3
If you began cashing checks from Social Security before May 1997, May 3 will be your next payment date. But this will not be the only group of recipients to get money from the Administration on May 3.
If you are on both disability benefits, SSI and SSDI, you will cash SSI on May 1 and SSDI on May 3. If you qualify for SSI, you will receive another payment on May 31.
This check or direct deposit was due on June 1, but it will be sent in advance. SSA never sends SSI on the weekend. So it will arrive on a business day. After May 3, there will be three more paydays. The average SSDI payment will be about $1,537.
DISABILITY BENEFITS ON MAY 8, 15 AND 22
The Social Security Administration will also send direct deposits for those who started getting SSDI after April 30, 1997. To arrange payments the Administration will use birth dates.
For example, if your birthday is from the 21st to the 31st of any month, your disability benefits will be in your bank account on May 22. The first round will be for those whose birthday is from 1-10.
May 15 will be the second payday for this group of SSDI recipients on disability benefits. SSA will make sure you were born from 11-20. The maximum amount for SSDI is $3,822 in May 2024. Getting a small SSDI check means you may qualify for SSI or SNAP benefits in the United States.
