Retirees, SSDI, and SSI recipients will not learn about the new 2025 COLA until the fall. Meanwhile, they can check when their 2025 Social Security payment dates will be.
In this way, you can have a better idea of when you will receive money to make any payments or simply organize your holidays when you get your Social Security direct deposit.
Social Security paydays for the 3rd
There are retirees who began collecting monthly payments from the Administration before May 1997. If that is your case, you will receive most payments in 2025 on the third day of each month.
Nevertheless, there are a few exceptions to this SSA rule. The first payment for retirees and SSDI recipients which will not be sent on the 3rd will be in May. In this case, as it falls on a Saturday, it will be delivered on May 2.
The August payment will be on the 1st rather than on the 3rd. Once more, SSA cannot send money on the weekend so this payday has to be rescheduled for both SSDI and retirement benefits.
Social Security on 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesday
If you do not qualify for the Social Security payments on the 3 because you are neither on SSI nor got benefits before May 1997, your birthday will set your 2025 payment dates.
In this case, all the payments will be sent on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesday. No changes are expected because they do not fall on holidays or the weekends. Supplemental Security Income recipients will get their first payment for 2025 on December 31, 2024.
Therefore, SSI recipients will get a COLA increase, possibly about 2.63% before the SSDI or retirement recipients in the United States. SSI payday changes will take place in:
- February (due on January 31)
- March (due on February 28)
- June (due on May 30)
- September (due on August 29)
- November (due on October 31)
