The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the former Food Stamps, is about to send the last SNAP benefits to eligible beneficiaries in the United States.
In fact, these states are Florida and Texas. As these are the first SNAP payments for some beneficiaries in October, they need to know that they will receive their new amounts thanks to the 2024 COLA.
The Food Stamps program does not take so long to send the 2024 COLA increase. If you are on Social Security benefits, the new increase is not available until January 2024.
WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT BENEFICIARIES CAN GET ON FOOD STAMPS IN FLORIDA AND TEXAS?
This will depend on your family size and the money you have or get every month from other sources. In general, a family of four in Texas or Florida can cash up to $973 in October 2023. A single individual can receive up to $291, up from 281 dollars in September 2023.
A two-member family in Texas or in Florida can collect SNAP payments of up to $535. Once you get an additional member and you are three, the amounts is up to $766.
Although five-member families may not be as frequent as smaller ones, it is a possibility. The Food Stamps program will give up to $1,155 if you are five eligible people in your household.
The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS)claims that if you are more than 8 people, you can get $219 additionally. That means that if you are 9, you will collect $1,751 plus $219.
In total, a 9-member family can collect from SNAP up to $1,970. Bear in mind that maximum amounts are far from reality. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) said that the average check for 6 is just $1,052. While the largest Food Stamps check is $1,386.
WHEN WILL TEXAS AND FLORIDA SEND THE LAST FOOD STAMPS IN OCTOBER?
The last SNAP benefits will be on your Electronic Benefits Transfer card on October 28, 2023. However, there have been Food Stamps for a while in both states. The Food and Nutrition Service through USDA funds this program, but states administer paydays.
For example, the state of Florida is sending checks from October 1st through October 28. They use the 9th and 8th digits of your case number. They drop the tenth digit and read it backward.
Therefore, if your case number 9th and 8th digits are 86-88, you will cash your money on October 25. If they are 89-92, you will receive SNAP benefits on October 26, 2023.
Another possibility is October 27 if your numbers are 93-95. The last payday for the Food Stamps in Florida is October 28, but only if your number is 96-99. In Texas, they pay depending on your Eligibility Determination Group number.
If your EDG number ends in 86-88, your SNAP payday is on October 25. EDG number from 89-92, Food Stamps arrive on October 26. From the 93-95 you will get it on the 27. The last check in Texas on October 28 will be for those whose EDG number ends in 96-99.
