IRS deadline to pay taxes approaches

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has made an important reminder for some American taxpayers who own a heavy highway motor vehicle. A new deadline is approaching for them.

Therefore, it is time to file a Heavy Highway Vehicle Use electronic tax return before the deadline is over. If it is the first time you have to file and you do not know what to do, you will need to file out Form 2290, but most importantly, pay any taxes due.

When is the IRS deadline for truckers?

The Internal Revenue Service has set the deadline to file Form 2290 and pay any taxes due by September 3, 2024. Hence, taxpayers who own a heavy highway motor vehicle should not miss the deadline.

Do not forget that you must use a debit or credit card to pay the Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax. If you are not sure whether you must pay this tax or not, you can go through a brief interview.

The IRS can help you find out if you are required to pay this tax or not by taking a 15-minute-long interview. As it is online, you can do it from home and there is no need for an appointment. Of course, make sure you answer accurately. Visit the official website to check it now: https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/do-i-need-to-pay-the-heavy-highway-vehicle-use-tax

IRS recommends gathering this information

Before you file Form 2290 and pay your taxes, take your Employer Identification Number. Do not forget that you cannot use your Social Security Number to do it.

It is simply to get an Employer Identification Number. So, you should apply now for it if you need one.  https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/apply-for-an-employer-identification-number-ein-online

Another thing to take into account is to use the same name on your Form 2290 as was assigned to you with your EIN. Then, gather the Vehicle Identification Number of each vehicle you own. The last thing you will need is the taxable gross weight of each vehicle. Then, use E-File and pay taxes afterward.
