The COLA increase will mean SSDI recipients will get 2.5% more from the Social Security Administration (SSA). However, none of the November or December payments will bring the cost-of-living adjustment boost. Only Supplemental Security Income, a benefit for people with a disability, will issue the COLA boost this year, on December 31, 2024.
The last SSDI payment this month will be sent on the 27th. Bear in mind that there are several requirements to qualify for this Social Security Disability Insurance payment in the U.S.
Requirements to get SSDI on November 27:
Social Security will send checks or direct deposits to:
- disability insurance recipients who qualified for this payment after May 1997
- disability recipients who do not receive Supplemental Security Income
- disability recipients whose birthday is from 21-31
Of course, you must also remain eligible because if your disability improves, you must report it. No doubt, this can clearly affect your eligibility. So, inform SSA as soon as an important change regarding your condition takes place. Average payments will be worth $1,542 and maximum amounts up to $3,822.
Social Security paydays for SSDI in December
December 3 will be your payday for Disability Insurance if you got benefits before May 1997. However, there is also another way to qualify if you got benefits after that date.
Though you must be receiving both SSDI and SSI simultaneously. In this case, your Supplemental Security Income payment will be issued on November 29 and the Disability Insurance check on December 3, 2024. Then, there will be 3 more rounds of Wednesday payments.
The way Social Security arranges paydays depends on your birth date, just like for the Nov. 27 payment. Thus, retired workers with a disability whose birthday is from 1-10 get money on December 11. December 18 if born from 11-20. Or December 24 if born from 21-31. The COLA increase will be sent on the January payments for those eligible for retirement, SSDI or SSI payments.
