The next Social Security payment has been scheduled for July 24, 2024. If you did not receive your payment on July 17, and you meet all the requirements, there is something you can do.

Steps to report a missing payment to Social Security

First, call your bank or financial institution to check whether they have sent your payment or not. It is not advisable to report a missing or late payment until you have waited for three mailing days.

Sometimes financial institutions and banks may take longer than expected in processing Social Security payments for various reasons. However, if they have not received it and you have waited for 3 mailing days call Social Security to report it at 1-800-772-1213.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing call SSA at TTY 1-800-325-0778. Another possibility is to simply visit your local SSA office. Making an appointment first can save you wait time though.

What happens when I report a missing, late, or stolen payment to Social Security?

The Administration will review your case as soon as you report it. They will make sure that your payment is due. If that is the case, they will replace it and you will receive your payment shortly.

Bear in mind that there can be some situations that may imply losing your Social Security benefits. In those cases, you are simply not eligible for your benefits as long as you remain ineligible.
