The Social Security Administration (SSA) is in charge of arranging monthly payments. SSI (Supplemental Security Income) is no exception. According to SSA’s payment schedule, the next check will be due on February 1, 2024.
For your information, SSI payments may have different amounts. What is more, they are not for everyone. Only low-income people can receive Supplemental Security Income.
If you exceed the income and resources threshold, you will not qualify for SSI. Moreover, if your financial situation improves while you are on Supplemental Security Income, you will lose your benefits.
WHO CAN RECEIVE $1,415 ON FEBRUARY 1, 2024?
The Social Security Administration has updated the maximum Supplemental Security Income amounts. After the 3.2% increase, all benefits have changed. Hence, retirement and disability benefit recipients will get more money.
To get $1,415 you must qualify for the largest Supplemental Security Income amount in 2024. Only married couples can receive such a large payment. Of course, if you have other earnings you may not qualify for a check worth $1,415.
If you are not married, but you are eligible for SSI, the largest check you can obtain is $943. Remember that it has increased by 29 dollars. It was only $914 in 2023.
Another possibility is that you do not qualify for the largest checks for married couples and individuals. In that case, you could receive an average payment worth $674. Essential persons can also collect SSI payments of up to $472.
SSI ELIGIBILITY FOR THE FEBRUARY 1 PAYMENT
In order to get Supplemental Security Income payments, you must have filed first. It is not possible to get Supplemental Security Income if you have not applied and got Social Security’s approval.
Only applicants with a low income and low resources can qualify. Apart from that, you must be in one of the following situations. For example, you could get Supplemental Security Income if you are at least 65 years old.
If not, you may have a qualifying disability or be blind. Both adults and children may be eligible for Supplemental Security Income. Therefore, if your child has a disability, they could apply.
Unlike retirement or SSDI, there is just a single payday per month. Sometimes, there seems to be 2 checks per month, but it is actually a check from the following month paid in advance. If you get retirement or SSDI benefits and your payment is too low, it is time to apply for SSI. Do not put it off anymore.
