Retirees and SSDI recipients can receive payments on the same paydays. Social Security unveiled when these eligible recipients can receive money in their bank accounts.
According to Social Security’s payment schedule, retirees will receive money on September 18. That means eligible beneficiaries will get their direct deposit or check within 48 hours. Some SSDI recipients can also get money on this same payday.
SSDI and retirement benefit payments on September 18
If you did not qualify for any of the previous payments, but you are on Social Security, you still have 2 possibilities to receive your new payment. To get money from the Administration on September 18 you:
- must have been born from the eleventh to the twentieth
- cannot be a Supplemental Security Income recipient
- did not receive SSDI or retirement benefits before May 1997
Since the average payment for retired workers is worth $1,920 and a spouse gets $909 on average, an eligible married couple may receive a payment of about $2,829. Similarly, an SSDI recipient and the spouse can receive about $1,960, $1,539 on average for workers and $421 for spouses.
SSDI and retirement benefit payments on September 25
If your birthday is from the 21st to the 31st, you may qualify for the September 25 payment instead. This will also be a payday for retirees and SSDI recipients.
Of course, you must have applied and got approval to be receiving any of these Social Security payments. If you do not receive an average payment, your payment may be much slower than $1,539 for Disability Insurance and $1,920 for retirement.
