We’re not ready for final Social Security payments in October: are you eligible?

If you are not on the list of eligible citizens you will not be able to get the last of your October Social Security payments

Find out if you meet the requirements to get the last Social Security payment in October

The last of the Social Security payments for the month of October will be arriving very soon to households in the United States. If you are not on the list of those eligible to get this check, you will not be able to cash it, so you will have to wait until November for a new check.

In fact, it is possible that the check may have arrived in one of the previous month’s payments if you are not eligible for the next check. The Social Security Administration sends out up to 4 different checks throughout the month. Each retiree gets one of these checks depending on which list of Americans they belong to.

In order to determine if we belong to the group that will receive the next check we only have to take into account two conditions. The first is related to the year of retirement and the second condition is the birthday. These two elements are fundamental and mandatory, otherwise we will not be able to get the next payment.

As this check is the last one in October, retirees who do not meet the requirements will have to wait until November to get the new payment. However, it is not worrying not to be part of this list, since if we do not collect on one day we are sure to get Social Security on another. The important thing is to have the benefit accepted and to know the payment schedule well.

WHO CAN GET THE LAST SOCIAL SECURITY IN OCTOBER?

The requirements for getting the last of the October Social Security checks are very clear. There is no room for doubt when looking at them as to whether or not we would be able to cash the check. In total there are two filters that a retiree has to pass if he/she wants to get this last payment for the month of October.

The first filter that the retiree has to pass is to have applied for retirement after 1997. It does not matter the year of retirement or anything like that. Likewise, the type of retirement is not important either.

The most important thing in these cases is to have applied for the benefit after that year. And the fact is that if we have had the check since before that particular year, we will always get the first payment of the month. So we can say that this filter divides retirees into two different groups: those who receive payment on the 3rd day of each month (unless there are exceptions that bring the payment forward) and those who get it on the second, third or fourth Wednesday.

In addition to the year of retirement requirement, there is another requirement. This requirement is related to the birthday. It is mandatory to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month in order to receive the last Social Security check in October. In order for the Administration to send us a check on that day, we do not have to meet any other requirement.

WHY NO SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME IN OCTOBER?

The other major payment that the Administration sends out each month, in addition to Social Security retirement, is Supplemental Security Income. Recipients of this benefit have noticed that during the month of October they have not gotten a payment directly.

However, this payment did exist, even though retirees may have gotten it earlier. The Administration sent this check on September 29th. This is because the 1st of October was a holiday and on those days the Administration does not pay any kind of checks.

So even though the Social Security Administration does not send out checks during the month of October, the beneficiaries still get checks. Even so, the next payment of this benefit will be on November 1st, so we will have to wait a few days to be able to enjoy the amount.
