- The good news is that all Social Security payments will be sent on time. So, no delays are expected for the October payments. However, there is one week in October when the Social Security Administration has scheduled no payments.
The reason is simple, the last Social Security payment for retirees will be sent on October 23. So after that date, there are no scheduled payments. The first round of Wednesday payments will be sent on the 9th, so it is very early. Sometimes the first round starts on the 14th, so the last payment can be sent later in the month.
What to do if your Social Security payments are not delivered on time?
The first thing you should know is when the Administration has scheduled your payment, for example, here are the paydays for October 2024:
- retirement payment on October 3 for recipients who are:
- on benefits before May 1997
- receiving Supplemental Security Income simultaneously
- retirement payments on October 9, 16 and 23
- birth date from 1-10: Oct. 9
- birth date from 11-20: Oct. 16
- birth date from 21-31: Oct. 23
Why you should not call Social Security immediately
Sometimes a payment does not arrive on time and it is not SSA‘s fault. So, it is best to find out if there is an external reason for that late, missing, or even sometimes stoles payment.
Thus, once you know when your payment is due, wait for 3 mailing days. If you want, you can contact your bank or financial institution to know when your money will be sent.
Sometimes they are experiencing delays for a particular issue they may have had. Then call SSA toll-free at 1-800-772-1213 or TTY 1-800-325-0778 or contact your local Social Security office if necessary. Bear in mind that Social Security benefits are generally on time and sometimes sent in advance. For example, the November payment on the third has been scheduled for November 1 instead.
