The Social Security Disability Insurance benefit program is still sending money to millions of eligible recipients in the United States. Unlike Supplemental Security Income, SSDI payments are due 4 times per month and a recipient can only receive one of them.
The upcoming payment for SSDI will be due on August 14. However, this will not be the only payday for those who qualify for Disability Insurance payments. In fact, August 21 and August 28 will also be paydays.
Next SSDI payment & eligibility
To be eligible you must have been born from the first to the tenth of any month. So, if you have been born after those days, you may receive money on August 21 or 28 if you did not qualify for the August 2 payment.
Those who started collecting Social Security Disability Insurance before May 1997 are not eligible for any of the remaining payments in August. If you are on Supplemental Security Income, you are not eligible either for the checks or direct deposits on August 14, 21, or 28.
As far as payment amounts is concerned, an SSDI recipient can get a payment of up to $3,822. However, if you have not worked for a minimum of 35 years due to your disability and you were not a high earner, you may get an average payment or even a lower check or direct deposit.
SSDI average payments
The average payment amount for Social Security Disability Insurance recipients is worth $1,537. As you can see, it is much lower than the maximum amount because many applicants cannot work for long once their disability appears.
SSDI payments can also be for spouses and children of workers with a disability. In this way, a family can receive more money from the Social Security Administration and may have better financial support to make ends meet.
Spouses of workers with a disability in the United States can receive about $420 on average. Children of workers with a disability can receive about $493 on average. Report any changes in your situation that may affect your eligibility.
