If you are on SSI (Supplemental Security Income) you will receive a total of 12 payments in 2025. However, you may receive 2 in some months and none during other months.
The reason is simple and there is no need to worry because SSI recipients will always receive their money on time or in advance. These changes are due to paydays falling on weekends or holidays.
No SSI due on these months in 2025
The months of January, February, March, June, September, and November will have no Supplemental Security Income paydays on the first day of the month. Instead, they will be delivered on the previous business day.
This implies that the January 2025 payment for Supplemental Security Income will be in your bank account on December 31, 2024. In fact, it will allow these recipients to get the 2025 COLA before the new year comes. The one for February will be due on January 31. February 28 will be the SSI payday for March.
There are no SSI payment dates set for June 2025. Actually, you will receive your money on May 30, 2025. The same thing happens in September, when the payment is due on August 29, 2025. Since November 1 is Saturday, Supplemental Security Income payments will arrive on October 31, 2025.
Requirements to get SSI in 2025
The main requirements are having a income and little or no resources. Besides, you must also meet residency requirements. Apart from that, you must be aged 65, have a qualifying disability or be blind. Only one of these 3 conditions is enough.
Receiving Supplemental Security Income payments may be slightly easier in 2025 and amounts may be slightly higher too for several reasons. If you were almost eligible but you did not get approval in 2024, apply after the new and upcoming changes in September.
Social Security has created new rules to expand eligibility and reduce cuts. Among them are:
- SSA has simplified the Disability Evaluation Process
- SSA updated occupations list used
- Expand access by updating the definition of a public assistance household
- New rental Subsidy Policy Expansion
- Remove barriers to getting SSI
