No SSI payment until late August, but SSDI payments will be issued first

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) recipients can find out when their next payment will be sent

No SSI payment until late August, but SSDI payments will be issued first

SSI and SSDI disability payments coming soon

SSI recipients were the first to receive their direct deposit in August. However, they will not receive their money on September 1, 2024. This is because the Social Security Administration has had to reschedule the Supplemental Security Income payments.

As a matter of fact, SSI beneficiaries will receive a new payment from the Federal government before August comes to an end. SSA’s payment schedule shows the next payment will be due on August 30, 2024. September 1 will be Sunday and SSA cannot set paydays on the weekend.

SSI and SSDI amounts for August and September

Supplemental Security Income recipients can receive their monthly payment of up to $943 if they are single. Eligible married couples on SSI can get up to $1,415. Some may qualify as essential persons.

An essential person will receive a much lower payment. In fact, they can just get up to $472. SSDI payments can be up to $3,822. However, the average payments can be more realistic since they are about $1,537 as of June 2024.

SSI can get an average payment of about $697. This is the average payment for all recipients. Those who are aged 65 or older can get $574 on average because most of them also get Social Security retirement benefits.

SSDI payments before SSI on Aug. 30

Social Security Disability Insurance is due on August 14, 21 and 28. Depending on when your birthday is, you may get your disability benefit payment earlier or later in the month if you do not qualify for the payment on the 3rd.

Those who are on SSI and Social Security at the same time will receive their monthly payment on September 3, 2024. If you started receiving SSDI payments before May 1997, September 3 will also be your next payday. If you have a small Social Security check or direct deposit, apply for Supplemental Security Income as well, you may be eligible.
