It is time to have a look at the upcoming Social Security payments in the United States, retirement benefit amounts updated

This is the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) full payment schedule for February 2024. Retirement benefits will have 4 new paydays and Supplemental Security Income will have a single one.

As a matter of fact, there is one payment left on January 24. It will only be for those retirees whose birth date is from the 21st to the 31st and who started receiving benefits from May 1997 onward.

The first February payment will be for Americans who have a low income and collect Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Remember that some retirees qualify for SSI. That is why some SSI recipients can get the first and the second check SSA sends.

FIRST RETIREMENT BENEFIT PAYMENT DATE IN FEBRUARY

The Administration has confirmed that February 2 will be the first payday for retirees. Usually, this group of retirees collects their payment on February 3, but it is not possible to send it on that day. Let’s explain the reasons and who is eligible.

The reason why the first retirement benefit arrives one day in advance is that February 3 is a Saturday. As it is not a business day, there cannot be any payment. SSA only sends checks on business days.

To get this payment on Feb. 2 you must have been on retirement benefits before May 1997. If you started receiving benefits after April 30, 1997, your benefits may arrive on one of the three following paydays. Another possibility is to be on SSI and Social Security at the same time.

The first chance to get retirement benefits after February 2, will be on February 14. This check will be yours if you do not qualify for the February 2 payment because you began getting checks from May 1997, and your birthday is from 1-10.

WHO CAN RECEIVE RETIREMENT BENEFITS ON FEBRUARY 21?

Retirees who have been on benefits after or in May 1997 and whose birth date is from 11-20 will receive their new check on February 21. If you meet the same requirements but your birthday is from 21-31, you will get your money on the 28th.

The possible amounts are $1,907 if you get an average retirement benefit. The maximum amounts are $4,873 at 70, $3,822 at Full Retirement Age, and $2,710 at 62. Though few workers qualify for such large payments. SSI beneficiaries can get $472 (essential person), $943 (single), $1,415 (married).

Summing up, the Social Security Administration will send a new check on the following dates:
