If you are not aware of the fact that there are 2 checks arriving in the United States, and you are eligible, you will be pleasantly surprised. As a matter of fact, the Social Security Administration has scheduled 2 payments on March 1.
Therefore, if you were already receiving these benefits and you are eligible for both benefits, you will get 2 direct deposits. Or if you get checks, 2 of them by mail.
The thing is March 1 is usually the payday for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries. But there will be another Social Security payment for Americans on Social Security before 1997.
WHO WILL GET 2 CHECKS ON MARCH 1, 2024, IF ELIGIBLE?
To qualify for the 2 payments, you must have been on SSI and Social Security at the same time. Those who receive SSI, get it on March 1. If you also get Social Security, your payment should have been on March 3.
However, Social Security never sends checks or payments on a weekend. As March 3 is Sunday, the Administration sends your money on the previous business day.
By doing so, those on both SSI and Social Security get all the money they are entitled to on the very same day, March 1, 2024. Although it is unlikely that there will be delays because banks do not process payments on time, it is possible. So wait for 3 mailing days if there are delays.
HOW MUCH CAN THESE BENEFICIARIES RECEIVE?
If you only receive Social Security retirement benefits, you can get about $1,909. That is the average payment in retirement in 2024. Social Security Disability Insurance can pay average checks worth $1,537.
If you receive Social Security and SSI, you retirement check can be much lower. Bear in mind that SSI beneficiaries get these checks because they income is too low.
If you are on SSI, the average payment is about $697. Nevertheless, if you are 65 or older, your SSI checks are $574 on average. If your Social Security is too low, apply for SSI checks now.
