If you only receive Social Security retirement benefits, you can get about $1,909. That is the average payment in retirement in 2024. Social Security Disability Insurance can pay average checks worth $1,537.
If you receive Social Security and SSI, you retirement check can be much lower. Bear in mind that SSI beneficiaries get these checks because they income is too low.
If you are on SSI, the average payment is about $697. Nevertheless, if you are 65 or older, your SSI checks are $574 on average. If your Social Security is too low, apply for SSI checks now.
