If you are receiving retirement benefits, you must be at least 62 years old and must have gotten approval from the Social Security Administration (SSA). Usually, there are 4 different paydays for eligible recipients and you can only receive one of them.
The 2024 payment schedule for Social Security recipients unveiled that there are 2 groups of retirees who can get money in early September. Apart from them, some disability insurance recipients may also qualify.
Do you qualify for the Social Security retirement benefit payment on September 3?
If you are receiving Social Security retirement benefits and SSI (Supplemental Security Income), September 3 will be your payday. So, you can get SSI on the first and retirement on the 3rd.
Apart from this group of recipients, those who started collecting monthly payments before May 1997 will also qualify. Thus, if you belong to this group of retirees who have been on benefits for over 27 years, you qualify.
SSDI recipients who are on SSI or on benefits before May 1997 will also receive money on September 3, 2024. Those who do not meet the requirements to get money in early September will have to wait until September 11, 18, or 25.
Do you qualify for $1,919 from Social Security?
This is just an average payment for all retired workers as of July 2024. So, if you receive that amount is just a coincidence. Some seniors may not get that much, and others can get a lot more.
For example, those who meet all Social Security requirements can get up to $4,873 if:
- have filed at the age of 70
- have worked for the minimum number of years (35) to get the largest benefit
- have earned the taxable maximum all those years or more
- have paid taxes to the Social Security Administration as they worked
Early filers who had a low wage may have needed to file for Supplemental Security Income payments. This supplement can give recipients up to $973 and up to $1,415 if they are eligible married couples on a low income.
