The Alaska Department of Administration, through the Division of Retirement and Benefits, has announced a checklist for retirees-to-be. If you are thinking about applying for this useful money, check it out now.
First of all, you must get in touch with the pre-retirement services. In this way, you can ask for an estimate of your future benefits. Requesting an application packet will also be essential.
For your information, you should do this 120 days before you would like to retire. Moreover, you’d better make an appointment for counseling. Once you receive your application packet, fill it out.
MAIL YOUR RETIREMENT PACKET IN ADVANCE
The Division of Retirement and Benefits warns that you must send your application packet 60 days before your retirement becomes effective. Do not forget to complete everything to avoid delays.
As a matter of fact, there are 6 required items. Make sure you gather all this necessary information before you start your application process. It will not be difficult though.
Evidence of birthdate will be essential. This is so important because the age you retire affects your future payment. So it matters if you file early or not. If you reach Full Retirement Age, you do not get reduced benefits. So, the age you file matters and needs to be verified.
