The first payment that Social Security has scheduled for June will not be for Supplemental Security Income recipients. This is just because they will receive it in advance on May 31.
Social Security will send money on June 3 to some eligible retirees only. The thing is there will be a total of 4 payments in June, so you can only receive one of them.
Eligibility for Social Security on June 3
To be eligible on June 3 you must have been on benefits before May 1997. So, if you started receiving retirement benefits later, you will not qualify in most cases unless you meet one requirement.
Actually, the second possibility to receive Social Security on June 3 is to receive retirement benefits and SSI at the same time. This happens when your retirement check or direct deposit is too low.
To avoid poverty and food insecurity, the Federal Government offers the possibility to receive this Supplemental Security Income payment simultaneously. In this way, seniors, blind people, and people with a disability get additional support.
Social Security on June 12, 18 and 26
The payments after June 3 will be for those who started getting Social Security after April 30, 1997. If you meet that requirement, all you need to know is your birth date.
If you belong to this group of retirees and were born from 1-10, your next Social Security check will arrive on June 12. The following payment on June 18 will arrive 24 hours in advance since June 19th is a Federal holiday. To get it you must have been born from 11-20.
Social Security will send the last payment on June 26. However, it is only possible to receive it if your birthday is from the 21st to the 31st. The largest benefit for those who filed at 70 is worth $4,873. Average retirement benefits are worth $1,915. If you filed at 62 it can be up to $2,710 and $3,822 if at Full Retirement Age.
