The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Nutrition Service have confirmed the new 2025 COLA figure for SNAP. Although there will be a boost in the 48 contiguous States, there will be a decrease in Hawaii.
If you live in Alaska, Guam, and the United States Virgin Islands, you will also benefit from a COLA increase for Food Stamps. The District of Columbia will also take advantage of this low boost.
How much have SNAP benefits increased in most States?
Those living in the 48 contiguous States will get more or less dollars, depending on the household size and other requirements like income. For example, if you are an individual, you could receive up to 1 extra dollar.
Bear in mind that the maximum SNAP amount for 1 person is just $291 through September 30, 2024. After that date, starting on October 1, 2024, Food Stamp recipients will get up to $292. So, there will be little difference.
Those who will receive more dollars from the SNAP program after the 2025 COLA will be households of 8. Now, the maximum amount for 8 people is $1,751. After the 2025 COLA increase, it will become $1,756.
