Food Stamps are about to arrive in 2 States, see the food you can get with SNAP benefits and possible amounts

SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Even if the old name was Food Stamps, some people prefer to use that name instead. Getting money to buy food is essential for all the beneficiaries who receive these monthly benefits. Texas and Florida will send payments through December 28.

Not all SNAP recipients qualify for the same amount of money. Therefore, it is of vital importance that you stick to a budget so that you can make ends meet with the amount you get.

What is more, make a shopping list and a meal timetable. This is the best way to save money while on SNAP benefits. For example, if you are a single person on Food Stamps you can get up to $291 per month. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) claims that it could be about $202 on average.

HOW MUCH CAN A HOUSEHOLD OF 2 MEMBERS GET FROM FOOD STAMPS AT CHRISTMAS?

If you are just two people living in the same house you can obtain Food Stamps worth $372 on average. The maximum SNAP amount for 2 is $535 though. Therefore, it is a lot more than most people receive.

Another possibility is to be 5 family members in the same household. For 5 the maximum SNAP amount is $1,155. Average payments for 5 are about $852 said the CBPP.

The largest amount could be for those who are nine people. Their Food Stamp payment could be worth up to $1,970. Families with 6, 7 or 8 members can receive $1,386, 1,532, and $1,751 respectively.

 SNAP-ELIGIBLE FOOD AT CHRISTMAS

Remember that you can buy the same things with SNAP benefits all year round. Therefore, you can still buy all sorts of fruits and vegetables. Many people eat meat at Christmas, so you can buy that too.

Obviously, you can buy fish or poultry if you prefer it with your Food Stamps. Dairy products can be necessary for many desserts on Christmas Day and those are also eligible.

Cereals and bread can be bought too for breakfast on Christmas day. SNAP also offers the possibility of buying non-alcoholic beverages. Snacks are also eligible, so they can be a great combination for such a special dinner.

If you need to buy some plants or seeds for Christmas you can do that too. Shellfish removed from water can be bought if you are keen on that. Remember that medicines, pet food, cleaning products, and many other things are not eligible for the SNAP benefits.
