The United States Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as SNAP or Food Stamps, has gotten an increase in benefits. This means that Americans who collect this type of check can have a little extra money every month.
Despite what many Americans think, this benefit will not increase as of January 2024, but as of October 1st itself. So, if you have not yet gotten your October SNAP check when you do get it you will see that you will have a little extra money. This is very good news, since this benefit, focused so that Americans can buy food without problems, is one of the most useful for citizens.
Taking this into account we just need to know what the exact increase is. To tell the truth, there is not a dollar amount, but a percentage, just as it happens with the COLA. This percentage is 3.5%, which means your check will increase by that amount starting with the October payment.
If you are expecting a benefit of around $200 you will get a little more. While it may not seem like much, any help is welcomed by Americans collecting SNAP.
HOW MUCH WILL MY SNAP CHECK INCREASE?
The increase is by percentage, as we discussed earlier. That percentage is 3.5% and has taken effect on the same day October 1st, 2023. In this regard, the maximum as of this month will be $291, although not all Americans get the maximum.
To determine what our SNAP Food Stamps money is we have to add 3.5% to our current benefit and we will get the final figure. With an average check of $202 per month for single-citizen households, starting in October 2023 Americans will have access to better benefits.
This will in no way affect the requirements to get SNAP Food Stamps. So if your application was in process you won’t have to worry. Likewise, the benefit you will get will have that percentage included, so the calculation is added automatically.
MAXIMUM FOOD STAMPS IN ATTORNEY YEAR 2024
Taking into account that we will have this increase, we must also think that there will be a new maximum in the SNAP Food Stamps checks. Depending on the number of members in the family we will have a different increase.
Remember that there is no way to extend the Food Stamps check. Unlike Social Security, which we can increase during working hours depending on factors such as years worked, wages and retirement age, SNAP payments depend on the applicant’s income.
This will be the maximum check for each family depending on the number of members:
- One-member family: $291.
- Two-member family: $535.
- Three-member family: $766.
- Family of four members: $973.
- Family of five members: US$ 1,155.
- Family of six members: $1,386.
- Family of seven members: $1,532.
- Family of eight members: $1,751.
- Each additional person in the family: $291.
While there are seemingly no limits, it is usual for the SNAP check coming into a household to be a maximum of $973, since the average family is a family of four. However, remember that this is the maximum limit and therefore does not mean that all Food Stamp recipients can get that amount.
