USDA, through the Food and Nutrition Service, has informed of the new payment amounts and paydays in California. CalFresh (SNAP) payments will start to arrive on October 1, 2024, and they will bring a modest COLA increase.

This moderate CalFresh increase may not seem enough but it is much better than the reduction that SNAP recipients got in Hawaii. The new maximum amounts will increase by 1 dollar for individuals and up to 5 dollars for families of 8.

The good thing is that SNAP benefits are sent to EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) cards from the first to the tenth of the month. So, you will have to wait up to 10 days in October to get your money.

How much money can CalFresh (SNAP) give Californians in October?

The maximum amount you could receive will be up to $292, up from $291. That means there is just one dollar increase, so 12 dollars extra per year. Families of four will be able to get up to $975.
