The Summer Grocery Benefit for Kids is almost here. More popularly known as SUN Bucks, it will give SNAP recipients with eligible school-aged kids 120 dollars per child.

So, if you have three eligible children, you can get up to $360. SNAP beneficiaries can use this 120-dollar check to buy groceries over the summer. In this way, they can save money if their kids do not get free meals from schools.

What if you are not a SNAP recipient?

Do not worry because Food Stamp beneficiaries are not the only ones who can get SUN Bucks on top of SNAP payments. For example, you may also be eligible if you receive WIC, TANF, or FDPIR.

What is more, you can receive SNAP, WIC, TANF or FDPIR while your kids enjoy the SUN Meals program. So, SUN Bucks is compatible with other benefits and food assistance programs for kids.

Apart from the SUN Meals, SUN Bucks allows kids to take part in the SUN Meals To-Go. Therefore, there is a wide variety of benefits to support needy American families and help them fight food insecurity through the SUN Bucks and other programs and benefits.

How to qualify for SUN Bucks if you get SNAP or similar benefits

In most cases, your children will be automatically enrolled in the SUN Bucks program if your family receives Food Stamps, FDPIR, TANF or WIC. The only problem might be if you live in an area where SUN Bucks is not available.

Check the full list of States offering SUN Bucks to SNAP and other recipients. Do not worry if you are not enrolled automatically. It is possible to apply for SUN Bucks online.

However, make sure you meet the income limits as well as the other requirements. Once you are enrolled, the SUN Bucks program will be added to your Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program account. Generally, they will issue a separate EBT card for you to buy groceries.
