The Social Security Administration has confirmed the 2025 COLA increase for retirees will be sent in 2025. However, SNAP recipients are already receiving the 2025 COLA once USDA started sending checks with the boost in October 2024.
In this way, SNAP recipients do not have to wait until next year to get some extra money. The downside is the fact that the COLA for Food Stamps is much lower than SSA’s COLA increase, which reached 2.5%, while for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, it was just about 0.34%.
SNAP payments left in Florida in October 2024 with COLA
Each State can deal with Food Stamp applications and paydays. That is why the State of Florida sends the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program through October 28 and other States have already distributed all the monthly payments. Some States like Alaska or Vermont sent all benefits in a single payday.
The way Florida arranges paydays is using the case number SNAP recipients have. Florida uses the 9th and 8th digit of recipients’ case number, but it is read backward and the 10th digit is dropped.
