The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the remaining SNAP payments in January. For those who are new to Food Stamps, they should know that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program helps low-income families or individuals buy food.

If you know someone who cannot afford to buy food and is facing food insecurity, you can help them file for SNAP benefits. While some States have already sent all the Food Stamp payments, others have not finished yet.

For example, States like Arizona, Arkansas, and Minnesota are sending SNAP benefits through January 13.  Massachusetts, Maine, and Pennsylvania will send Food Stamps through January 14. Utah has 2 payments left on January 11 and January 15. Wisconsin will pay these benefits through January 15. Guam till Jan. 10.

WHO CAN RECEIVE A SNAP PAYMENT WORTH  $2,581?

If you live in Guam and you are a family of 8, you may qualify. For those whose SSN ends in 9, your benefits arrive on January 9. If it ends in 0, it will arrive on January 10. However, you may not receive the full amount if you have earnings.

Remember that the lower your earnings are, the larger your SNAP checks can be. Of course, a larger number of people can allow you to get more money too. A single person can get up to $430 in Guam.

If you live in the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia, the maximum SNAP amount is $1,751 if you are 8 people living in the same house. It was last October 1, 2023, when benefits increased.

So, thanks to the 2024 COLA boost, all January payments bring additional cash. Let’s have a look at the other possible SNAP amounts depending on your family size in the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia.

SNAP MAXIMUM AMOUNTS IN 2024

The maximum amounts for the 48 contiguous states are $291-$1,751. For example, you can get up to $291 if you are a single person. Bear in mind that average payments may be lower.

According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, if your household size is 1, you can get about $202 on average. Even if your SNAP payment is about 90 dollars lower it is still worth it.

Families of 2 people can get up to $535, or $372 on average. If you are three, it could be up to $766. Four-member families may be more frequent than larger ones. Their maximum amount is $973.

Then, the remaining amounts are $1,155, $1,386 and $1,532 for families of 5, 6 and 7 respectively. Additional members can add $219 each after the $1,751 SNAP payment for 8.
