SUN Bucks are coming and millions of families can benefit from this money if they are on SNAP and have eligible children

SNAP beneficiaries with eligible school-aged kids can receive up to 120 dollars in the summer. For the months of June, July, and August, they can get $40 per each of these months.

In this way, they can buy additional food for the free meals they no longer get for not attending school in the summer. SUN Bucks is a new summer grocery benefit for kids. Some States may not use the same name though, but the program is exactly the same. Geting SUN Bucks and SNAP or WIC is possible.

But can you receive SUN Bucks if you are not a U.S. citizen and you are on SNAP?

As a matter of fact, the United States Department of Agriculture, through the Food and Nutrition Service confirmed that you do not need to be a U.S. citizen to qualify for SUN Bucks.

Therefore, if you are not a U.S. citizen you can still apply for SUN Bucks. Some people fear that getting SUN Bucks or SNAP benefits may affect their immigration status.

The Food and Nutrition Service claims that SUN Bucks does not affect the immigration status of your family. Hence, it will not affect your ability to become a U.S. citizen. Other things that will not affect either are remaining in the USA, getting or keeping a Green Card, or Permanent Legal Resident Status.

How do I apply for SUN Buck or SNAP summer EBT?

In most cases, eligible citizens do not need to apply. Actually, they will receive SUN Bucks automatically because they are on SNAP or their children enjoy the  School Breakfast Program or the National School Lunch Program.

Meeting the income requirements to qualify for either free or reduced-price meals at schools is essential. If you still need to apply, visit the official FNS SUN Bucks website.

Their official website is https://www.fns.usda.gov/summer/sunbucks. Then, select the State where you live and call or visit their website to apply. In order to submit your application for SUN Bucks you need to gather Social Security Numbers, income statements, home address, and your kid’s name, school, and home address.
