The Social Security Administration will continue sending payments to eligible retirees in the USA

If you are on retirement benefits but did not qualify for the Social Security payment on May 3, you may get one of the 2 upcoming payments in the United States. Since the May 3 check was for those on benefits before May 1997, these ones are for those who started receiving retirement after April 1997.

As a matter of fact, the first check for those on benefits after April 30, 1997 will be on May 8. Social Security will be due on May 8 for those whose birthday is from the first to the tenth of any month.

HOW MUCH MONEY CAN RETIREES RECEIVE FROM SOCIAL SECURITY ON MAY 8?

The amount of your retirement benefits will depend on your work history. It will not be the same amount of money if a worker had a low salary or worked for just 10 years as one who was a high earner and worked for more than 35 years.

However, the average Social Security payment is worth $1,913. That is as of March 2024, so the average amount for May maybe even slightly higher. That does not imply all retirees will receive $1,913.

Some may get up to $4,873 from Social Security and others will have such a low payment that they need to file for Supplemental Security Income. What is more, some spouses may also get money from SSA and even some dependent children.

SOCIAL SECURITY ON MAY 15

If your birthday is from 11-20 of any month, you will receive your Social Security on May 15. Of course, you cannot be on SSI because then, your payday must have been May 3. And you got benefits after April 30, 1997.

Therefore, you will collect a Social Security payment of up to $4,873 in just 10 days. Do not worry if you are not eligible for the May 8 and May 15 payment either. The Administration has set a new payday for May 22.

May 22 could be your payday if your birthday is from 21-31. The average checks are also $1,913 and the maximum benefit $3,822 if you filed at Full Retirement Age or $2,710 at 62.
