Disability benefits payments will take some time to arrive. This is because the Social Security Administration has announced that there will be no checks until December 13. Remember that if you received benefits before May 1997, your check came on December 1.
In order to cash the SSDI check on December 13, you must meet the birth date requirement. If you do not have your birth date from the 1st day of the month to the 10th, this check will not be yours.

People on disability benefits whose birthday is from days 1-10 of any month will get their money on December 13. Even if the maximum amounts for Social Security Disability Insurance payments are the same for all recipients, paydays may differ.

Apart from having filed and not receiving disability benefits before May 1997, your birthday must be from the 11th to the 20th. So, if your birth date matches one of these days the December 20 payment will be yours.
The last chance to cash SSDI benefits in December will be on the last Wednesday in December. Do not forget that this round of payments will be on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday.
To cash your disability benefits on December 27 your birthday must be from the 21st to the 31st. Therefore, beneficiaries on SSDI have three remaining payments in December.
The Social Security Administration has also revealed that there will be 4 SSDI paydays in January. The first day will be on January 3. Then, there will be a second round of payments on December 10, 17 and 24.
How much money can I receive from SSDI in December?
If you are on disability benefits you can receive up to $3,627 in December. However, there will be new maximum amounts in the next January payments. SSDI recipients will be able to cash up to $3,822 in 2024.
Anyway, these maximum amounts are not realistic. The average SSDI payment may be more accurate since most just get $1,489 in 2023. Amounts can be different because not all workers have the same earnings, number of years worked or filing date.
Unfortunately, the 2024 COLA will not arrive in December. Even if prices are soaring and millions of Americans find it really hard to make ends meet, they must wait until January.
The only possibility to cash the 2024 COLA boost is to be receiving Supplemental Security Income. In this case, you can collect your new amount with the COLA increase on December 29. SSI maximum amounts will be $943, up from $914. Apply for SSI if you have a low check for SSDI and get more money.
