The Social Security Administration updates average payment amounts for SSI, SSDI, and retirement benefits

There has recently been an update in the average payments SSI, SSDI, and retirement beneficiaries get. This does not mean that the Social Security Administration will change your payment amount.

This is just statistics to show a tendency. That is if beneficiaries are getting more or less money, but on average. Therefore, if you get benefits in March, the April amount will be exactly the same if your situation has not changed.

Bear in mind that the previous SSDI average amount was about $1,537. Spouses of workers with a disability just get $418, a lot less than spouses of retired workers. Because they usually have less time to pay taxes to the Social Security Administration.
