Retirees have already received the money for their September Social Security payments in their bank accounts. If you have not received your September 25 payment, you can wait up to 3 mailing days before you can contact SSA to report a missing payment.

However, if you qualify for a check in October before the 2025 COLA increase announcement, you can receive your Social Security direct deposit in early October.

The Administration will deliver the first checks and direct deposits in October on the third. This money will only be for those retirees who started getting monthly payments from the retirement or Disability Insurance program before May 1997.

Apart from this group of recipients, those who are receiving Social Security and Supplemental Security Income will qualify for the October 3 payment. However, payment amounts may differ between both groups.
